Prentiss County Sheriff Warns of Scam

The Prentiss County Sheriff's Department has released a statement that there are reports that residents have received fraudulent checks in the mail from individuals portraying themselves as representatives of a well known snack food company, offering the recipients money to advertise by wrapping their automobile in the brand's logo.

However, they warn that the checks are counterfeit and advise to not deposit or attempt to cash. Nor should you follow the instructions that are included with the check. Fortunately the recipients that contacted the sheriff's department were wary that it was a scam and reported it to authorities.
