Hawkeye offensive lineman arrested for OWI over the weekend
DES MOINES, Iowa — North Dakota transfer Cade Borud was arrested over the weekend for operating while intoxicated (OWI) after blowing more than double the legal limit. The Hawkeye offensive lineman is the second Iowa football player to be arrested for OWI this summer. Wide receiver Kaleb Brown was arrested last month for the same charge.
Stewart to play for Centennial coach Hey in IHSBCA All Star Series Aug. 1-3 in Pella
Senior Sean Stewart will get one final chance to play for Ankeny Centennial baseball coach Mark Hey. Stewart has been named to the Large Schools West team that will compete in the 2024 Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All Star Series on Thursday through Saturday at Pella High School, which will host the event for the first time. Hey will serve as the head coach for the Large Schools West.

Two Mothers of Pitchers in 4A Softball Title Game are Jefferson-Scranton graduates
There’s an old saying that every time you watch a ball game something happens that you’ve never seen before. That certainly was the case late Thursday night when ADM and Carlisle met for the Class 4A Iowa High School State Softball Championship north of Ft. Dodge. Four pitchers were used in the game, won 7-6 by Carlisle, and two of the girls have Mothers who are Jefferson-Scranton High School graduates. Plus, each girl has two grandparents currently living in Jefferson.

Claiming the number ten spot for PCM top sports stories of the 2023-2024 school year is the PCM girls basketball team winning seven games in a row. The impressive winning streak for the Mustangs started early in the season. The PCM girls lost their first game of the season by six points to Chariton and then their streak started in game two. During the winning streak, the Mustangs defeated Knoxville 48-38, Pella Christian 52-35, Greene County 56-23, Saydel 49-26, West Marshall 52-35, North Mahaska 41-32, and Perry 46-19.
