    Mobile Police arrest man allegedly involved in May homicide

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A man was arrested in connection with a homicide that happened on Village Green Drive East in May 2024 , according to the Mobile Police Department.

    On Tuesday, July 2, police arrested 20-year-old Alonzo Jared Collier-Newsome after identifying him as a suspect in the case, according to the MPD news release.

    The incident, which happened on May 17, claimed the life of 19-year-old Tramell Williams.

    Officers were called to the Steak N Shake on Government Boulevard just before 11 p.m. that Friday for a report that two people had been shot, according to the release.

    The release said when they arrived, officers found that two men had been shot inside a vehicle on Village Green Drive East earlier that night.

    Both of the victims were taken to a local hospital for their injuries, where Williams was pronounced dead, according to MPD officials.
