    Mobile man previously charged with murder not indicted by grand jury

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Mobile man previously charged with murder will not go to trial after a grand jury chose not to indict him, according to court documents.

    20-year-old Alvin Bernard Adams was accused of involvement in the shooting death of 45-year-old Jamel Pendleton , which happened on Jan. 27, 2023.

    Pendleton was shot multiple times at a home on St. Stephens Road after he opened the door when he heard a knock.

    According to previous reporting , family members said they heard three gunshots, and when they looked outside, they saw two men.

    One of the men allegedly seen by family members was described as 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6 in height, wearing a ball cap and holding a silver handgun in his left hand. They could not see the second suspect, according to reporting.

    MCSO said they found a 9-mm unspent cartridge, marijuana, and cash inside the home.

    News 5 has contacted the Mobile County DA’s office to learn more about the decision not to indict. We will update this article when we learn more information.
