MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Neighbors and community activists are speaking out after two people were shot to death at an Airbnb in Toulminville.

A neighbor who spoke with WKRG News 5 wished not to be identified as she told us what she heard early Sunday morning. She was getting ready for bed and heard multiple rounds of gunfire.

“It sounded like a bomb exploded,” she explained. “About ten of them. And then another kind of shot. At first, I thought it was a transmission blowing up. And then after I realized it was another sound, I didn’t realize it was a gunshot. I was scared. I had to get up and take one of my heart pills.”

Activists like Levi Wright Jr. say he’s devastated after hearing the news, and now it’s time to discuss solutions.

“The first thing that we can do to prevent it is to make sure that we as parents, as church leaders, as community individuals, as well as schoolteachers, everyone in the community, stakeholders, have a voice to help our youth to make clear, sound decisions,” Wright said.

The neighbor says she’s lived in this neighborhood for 55 years, and this is the first time she’s seen anything like this, which makes her fear for her safety.

“It just put me cautious, you know, kind of uneasy and kind of scared to go to bed at night because I don’t know, retaliation or what,” she explained. “When them bullets start flying, I don’t know when one is coming to my bedroom. I’m not, I’m not, I’m not sure.”

As of Sunday night, Mobile Police have not named the victims or any suspects. No arrests have been made.

Mobile police said anyone with information on this case can call 251-208-7211 or text anonymous tips to 844-251-0644 or visit mobilepd.org/crimetip.
