    Looking for cheap classic horror films at your local movie theater this September? Then Fathom Fright Fest is for you. Below are several films coming to a local theater near you. Two are classics John Carpenter films and one is a recent fun horror flick.

    Halloween season is just around the corner. To celebrate this year’s spooky season, Fathom Events has scheduled eight creepy features in movie theaters nationwide. Below is September’s line up.


    They Live

    Sunday, September 3rd and Wednesday September 6th. The film They Live is a 1988 American science fiction action horror film. Making this its 35th Anniversary. The film was written and directed by John Carpenter. He based the film on the 1963 short story "Eight O'Clock in the Morning" by Ray Nelson. This thriller is about aliens who are gaining control of the earth by concealing their identity as humans. One man is determined to stop them when he finds a box of glasses that reveals their identity. The movie stars the late professional wrestler Roddy Piper (2015). Who doesn't love Roddy's famous They Live movie quote, "I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all outta bubble gum." Rating R. Running time: 1 hour 42 minutes.     Christine

    Sunday September 10th and Wednesday September 13th. If you like classic cars, then this 1983, 40-year-old classic movie is for you. Christine is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. This supernatural horror film was directed by John Carpenter. The film tells the horrifying story of a 1957 Plymouth that is bought by a loner student. The movie stars Keith Gordon. Who is best known as Rodney Dangerfield’s son in Back to School. After he refurbishes the car, it takes on human characteristics. The Plymouth is called Christine and she starts to take revenge on everyone who treated her owner badly at school. She gets even more possessive and goes after Gordon's girlfriend. Rated R. Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes. See times and cost near you.

    Shaky Shivers

    Monday, September 31st. In this 2022 fun movie, two young women find themselves at an abandoned Washington State camp in the woods. They find a book of magical spells. One of the women, Lucy, finds herself bitten by a mysterious animal. She becomes convinced that she will transform into a werewolf. Joined by her BFF Karen, the two go on an adventure filled with magic and mayhem. During their antics, they battle with a throat-slashing creature right out of an 80s horror movie. Running time: 1 hour 30 minutes. See times and cost near you.
