MODESTO, Calif. (KTXL) – At only 18 years old, Tai Peete is young. But he is focused.

“My individual goals were to get a routine down, like a solid routine,” says Peete. “Being able to follow the same thing over and over again without it getting repetitive.”

In July of 2023, Tai Peete was drafted by the Seattle Mariners with the No. 30 overall pick. He has spent most of his brief career in Modesto, playing in 14 games last season and 67 games this season (thus far).

He is the Nuts’ everyday shortstop, and he is hitting .287 in 2024 with 21 stolen bases.

“The feedback has been the best part. Constructive criticism, just kinda being able to hear the truth,” he says. “This organization is everything I can ask for, everything they have been telling me is helping me in some sort of way.”

The organization is the Seattle Mariners, which ranks Tai Peete as its No. 7 prospect.

“My dream is to just keep playing baseball, pro ball. And I’d rather be out here than be in class,” laughs Peete, who was committed to Georgia Tech before he signed with the Mariners out of high school.
