Springfield Police Arrest Man with Illegal Firearm and Heroin After Shots Fired and Pursuit
Springfield has once again been the backdrop for a scene of gunfire and legal turmoil. This past Saturday, Springfield Police Officers were swiftly called to action after reports of gunshots at approximately 11:10 a.m. near Allen and Alberta Streets. The ensuing events led to the seizure of an illegal firearm and the arrest of Christian Ayala-Pellot, age 28, on Orange Street, following a public safety incident involving a scooter, a traffic collision, and a short foot chase.
2-year-old recovering after fallen tree branch severs his arm in Montgomery County
A 2-year-old boy is recovering after a large tree branch fell on his arm and severed it in Montgomery County on Saturday.It happened at approximately 6 p.m. at a home on Chandler Road in Cheltenham Township.Authorities say the boy was attending a birthday party when the incident occurred.According to police, the branch fell about 50 feet while a group of children was playing in a driveway.He was rushed to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where his arm was later amputated. Protest held outside court hearing for woman accused of posting videos of animal torture
Animal rights activists protested outside the court hearing on Monday for an Upper Darby woman accused of torturing animals and posting the videos on social media.The hearing and protest was held in Media, Delaware County.Police say Anigar Monsee, from Upper Darby, tortured and killed several animals and posted it all on social media to get views and followers.In one video, Monsee is seen with a chicken."During the video, she is soliciting more likes and more viewers. And once she gets to the point where she is satisfied with the number of viewers, she then proceeds -- over the course of 10 minutes -- to harm and ultimately kill that chicken," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt told Action News following Monsee's arrest.In the other videos, the suspect is seen doing the same thing to a pigeon, a rabbit, and several frogs.Bernhardt says the investigation started with an email tip from the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).Authorities arrested Monsee back in January and say she admitted to the abuse.She has been charged with four felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.A group called "Revolution Philadelphia" is pushing for the suspect to get the maximum sentence.

A vehicle slammed into a Wendy's restaurant in Delaware County on Saturday night.It happened just after 6 p.m. at the location on Walnut Street in Upper Darby.When fire and police departments arrived on the scene, the entire front window was destroyed.
