    DNR Conservation Officer’s Report

    • CO Trent Seamans (Big Lake) focused patrols on angling and boating activity. Additional time was spent following up on complaints in the Sand Dunes State Forest and assisting with the Conservation Officer’s Academy. Enforcement action included operating a watercraft with an infant passenger who was not wearing a life jacket and storing an RV in the Sand Dunes State Forest. Seamans also attended an area lake association meeting.

    • CO Adam Stennett (Annandale) investigated a TIP report of two juveniles catching and killing small fish and throwing them back in the water. Stennett spoke with the anglers, who claimed they were catching small carp, and killed them because they thought that’s what they were supposed to do. Stennett reminded them of the need to remove any killed fish from the water and to not throw them back or leave them on the bank. Carp may be released back to the water alive. An angler was found to be in possession of a northern pike within the protected slot limit. The fish was released, and enforcement action was taken. Recreational vehicle traffic has been high. Multiple stops were made for illegal ATV operation on area highways and ditches. Other enforcement action for the week included operating personal watercraft after hours, failure to display boat registration, operating without boat navigation lights and fishing without a license.

    • CO Brett Fox (St. Cloud) spent time patrolling for ATV, angling and watercraft activity. Fox spent time focusing patrols on the Mississippi River. Fox also spent time patrolling the shores of the river on foot. Violations this past week included fishing without a license and watercraft-registration issues.
