Kyrell Domnie, aka “Fly Ky,” Charged with Drug Distribution and Firearms Offenses

NEWARK, N.J. – An Essex County man has been charged with numerous offenses related to narcotics distribution and firearms trafficking. Kyrell Domnie, 39, of Irvington, known by the alias "Fly Ky," was charged by complaint and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor in Newark federal court on July 17, 2024. He remains detained following the hearing.

Details of the Charges

Domnie faces multiple charges, including:

• Six counts of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute cocaine
• One count of possessing with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl
• Two counts of firearms trafficking
• Three counts of possessing a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon
• One count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime

The charges stem from an investigation initiated in December 2023 by law enforcement agencies into Domnie's involvement in drug distribution and firearms trafficking. During this period, controlled purchases of substantial amounts of cocaine and handguns were conducted, leading to Domnie's arrest.

Searches of Domnie's apartments and vehicle resulted in the discovery of distribution quantities of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, along with packaging and storage materials. Additionally, a handgun was found in a concealed compartment in his vehicle.

Potential Penalties

• Drug Distribution and Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances: Maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine per count.
• Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Convicted Felon and Firearms Trafficking: Maximum penalty of 15 years in prison per count.
• Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime: Mandatory minimum of five years in prison, running consecutively to other sentences, with a maximum potential penalty of life in prison. Each firearms count carries a maximum fine of $250,000.

The charges in the complaint are merely accusations, and Domnie is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
