    • A Mount Airy man was jailed Tuesday under a $7,500 secured bond on a felony drug charge and for providing a false name during his arrest, according to city police reports.

    Auston Alexander DeLuca, 22, of 123 Effie Lane, operating a 2014-model moped, was encountered by officers during a traffic stop in the vicinity of Papa John’s Pizza on Rockford Street.

    DeLuca was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    He was scheduled to be in Surry District Court Wednesday for an initial appearance.

    • Damage to city property occurred Wednesday at Riverside Park, a frequent target of vandals, which this time involved a window being broken in a men’s restroom, damage put at $150.

    • William Edward Scott Dameron, 53 of North Wilkesboro, was charged with felony obtaining of property by false pretense on May 11 in a crime that targeted Lowe’s Home Improvement.

    Dameron allegedly obtained merchandise valued at $648 in a fraudulent manner, including a 40-gallon water heater and a Craftsman three-ton floor jack, and was found in possession of those goods, police records state.

    He also was discovered to be the subject of outstanding arrest orders for failing to appear in court which had been issued in Wilkes and Ashe counties last year.

    Dameron was jailed under a $5,908 secured bond and is slated to be in District Court in Dobson on June 10.

    • James Dymott Key, 49, of Winston-Salem, was taken into custody on felony drug charges after a May 11 traffic stop on U.S. 601 near State Street of a 2012 Harley-Davidson he was operating.

    A check with a national crime database revealed Key to be wanted in Forsyth County for possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for the distribution of a controlled substance, along with a misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia other than for marijuana.

    Those charges had been filed on April 10.

    Key was incarcerated in Dobson under a $2,500 secured bond and is facing a June 10 court date in Forsyth.
