    • A Mount Airy man has been arrested on a felony drug charge and as a fugitive from justice, according to city police reports.

Chester Sterling Pruett, 55, of 217 Rockford St., was encountered by officers late last Wednesday night during a suspicious-person investigation at a Hickory Street business location.

They learned Pruett was the subject of an outstanding warrant in Carroll County, Virginia, on an unspecified matter and he also was found with drug paraphernalia during a search accompanying the arrest process and later in possession of an undisclosed drug on the Surry County Jail premises, constituting a felony.

Pruett was incarcerated under an $1,800 secured bond and is scheduled to be in District Court next Monday.

    • Tonie Lee Edwards, 42, of 1308 Grove Lane, was arrested on May 10 after being encountered by officers during a suspicious-person incident near her home.

Edwards was found to be wanted by the Pilot Mountain Police Department on three felonies: possession of heroin, forgery of an instrument and uttering a forged instrument, along with possession of drug paraphernalia, which had been filed on May 6.

She was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $7,500 secured bond and slated for a July 17 appearance in District Court.

    • A crime involving larceny and property damage occurred on May 11 at the residence of Megan Elizabeth Arispe in the 400 block of Rockford Street, where rose bushes were harmed to the tune of $30 and a pair of Fiskars bypass pruners valued at $40 were stolen.

    • Rashaun Monte White, 37, of 508 Rockford St., was incarcerated without privilege of bond on charges of assault on a female and a crime of domestic violence after he was encountered by police during a May 10 civil disturbance call at his residence.

The charges had been issued on March 26 through the Gastonia Police Department, with White facing a Sept. 3 court appearance there.

    • Terry Chantler Mitchell, 41, of 371 Walker Road, Elkin, was arrested and jailed without privilege of bond on charges of resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer and communicating threats after a May 1 incident at the Speedway convenience store on West Pine Street.

When police arrived there, Mitchell left the scene before being told he was free to do so, necessitating a traffic stop of his 2000 Volvo 4S on Virginia Street. Mitchell is scheduled to be in Surry District Court on June 3.

The listed victim in the threats case is Jason Adam Irwin, a Speedway employee of Oakridge Drive.
