Norton homers, but Oilers’ offense sputters in 7-1 loss to Hornell
OLEAN — One run off a Michael Norton homer was all the offense the Olean Oilers were able to muster up as they fell to the Hornell Steamers 7-1 on Wednesday. The Oilers (14-14) offense has become centered around their ability to send balls out of the park as of late, hitting nine home runs in their last four games, going 2-2 in that span.
Oilers Struggle to Score Against Steamers
OLEAN, NY — One day after scoring a combined 18 runs in two, seven-inning games, the Oilers could only manage one against the Hornell Steamers in a 7-1 loss. Right fielder Michael Norton provided the only offense for the Oilers with a solo home run in the fourth inning. The home run was Norton's third of the season and his third in his last two starts.

OLEAN — An afternoon downpour was Olean’s taste of Beryl on Wednesday, the storm having traveled north and west of the region. The majority of the storm missed Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, passing across the Great Lakes and into Canada and the North Country. More than 6,000 National Grid customers in Chautauqua County were without power at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, mostly in the Dunkirk area, but the vast majority of the outages were restored before 1 p.m.

Sheffield man enters plea in case of child pornography
A Sheffield man has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the possession of over 1,000 images and videos of child pornography on his cell phone. Michael R.
