State police ID victim of fatal tractor trailer/motorcycle crash on Route 17 near Owego
One person is dead and another injured following a tractor trailer collision with a motorcycle Thursday in Tioga County. New York State Police identified the person who died as Karie L. VanDeusen, 52, of Olean. VanDeusen was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by 52-year-old Steven Myszka, also of Olean, troopers said.

Summer Plunder provides fun-filled day at community pool
ST. MARYS – Thursday was an event-filled day at the St. Marys Community Pool as the facility modified its annual Summer Splash event into a pirate-themed Summer Plunder. Different activities took place every hour. From when the pool opened at noon until 1 p.m., the facility followed normal operating procedures. From 1:15-2 p.m., it was noodle hour, and then the pool’s inflatable obstacle course was set up for attendees from 2:15-3 p.m.
TAMED continues to add mileage to local section of Knox and Kane Rail Trail
KANE—The Knox and Kane Rail Trail will total 74 miles when complete. The trail on the converted railway will run from the Kinzua Bridge State Park in the north to PA 66 in Shippenville. Find out more in The Kane Republican.

ST. MARYS - Additional grant funding may be on its way for the city’s state Route 120 Connector Project. St. Marys City Council unanimously approved submitting a Multimodal Transportation grant application for $2.4 million during their Monday evening meeting under the guidance of the City of St. Marys Director of Community and Economic Development, Tina Gradizzi.

OLEAN — Some local firms and nonprofits were affected by a global outage related to antivirus software on Friday, but most were unaffected. Early Friday morning, the Associated Press reports, a software update issued by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected customers’ computers running Microsoft Windows, the most popular operating system worldwide. The outage affected systems nationwide and globally, ranging from delayed border crossings and airline flights to health care facilities returning to paper-based operations and 911 service being down in some states.
