Cumberland Post 13 takes two more from Garrett
MCHENRY — Garrett Post 71/208/214 battled Fort Cumberland Post 13 in a pair of Mountain District American Legion baseball games this past week. Cumberland swept the two games to 5-1 in the season series over Garrett, winning 7-4 last Thursday before taking Tuesday night’s contest, 11-7.

Hampshire All-Stars ready for district championship
ROMNEY — The 9-11 year-old Little League Softball team from Hampshire are ready to go for their District Championship on Wednesday, June 26 at 7 p.m. Hampshire is set to take on South Berkeley following their regular season where they went 11-1 to finish the year. Last year for the Hampshire Little League team, it was Hampshire’s first softball all-star team in over 10 years, and they made a great run at the title. The girls defeated Grant County and Jefferson County before eventually falling to Hedgesville in the District runner-up game. Now this year, these girls are looking to bring home the championship banner to Hampshire County after putting in a lot of hard work and dedication.

ROMNEY — If it were not for one Hampshire High School graduate, the summer months would have left Rannells Field at Hampshire High School lonely and barren. Sure the field sees an occasional visitor during summer workouts for the HHS athletic programs, but for the most part it is left untouched. There are no physical education classes venturing out on it, no faculty/student fund-raising games, no Friday night football and no graduation.
