(FOX40.COM) — On the third day of its cityhood, Mountain House officials have canceled one of its Fourth of July events due to excessive heat.

On Wednesday, the city of Mountain House announced its Independence Day celebration at Central Community Park was canceled. The event was to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and was slated to include live music, a kids’ zone, and local vendors.

Mountain House and other Northern California cities in the Sacramento Valley, Delta and Foothills are under an excessive heat warning through Tuesday, July 9. Highs are expected to be between 105 to 108 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

    California welcomes its newest city

The newly incorporated city will go forward with its Acknowledgement and Commemoration event, which marks the founding of the city, moving it from noon to the morning of July 4.

The commemoration ceremony is planned to start at 9 a.m. at the Main Street Stage at the corner of Main Street and Central Parkway.

Mountain House’s first mayor, Andy Su, and other city council members will hold a ribbon cutting and a parade will follow at the conclusion of the ceremony. Su and city council members were sworn into office during the first official city council meeting on Monday.

Sacramento’s heat wave could possibly break multiple records

The parade route will start at Central Community Park, then will turn at Heritage Drive and return back to the park at the park, officials said.

Food trucks that were slated to come for the Independence Day celebration will arrive earlier at 9 a.m. and are expected to be there until 2 p.m.

The city will have a “food truck alley” for attendees to enjoy during the parade beginning at 9 a.m. on Central Parkway between Main Street and Arturo Boulevard.
