    1 in critical condition after morning shooting in Muncie

    MUNCIE, Ind. — A 44-year-old man is in critical condition after a shooting in Muncie on Thursday morning.

    According to a news release from the Muncie Police Department, Delaware County 911 Dispatched received a call of multiple shots filed in the area of the 1100 block of E. 5th Street at around 6:23 a.m. on Thursday.

    When officers with the department arrived at the scene, a 44-year-old man who was reportedly shot multiple times was located outside of his vehicle in the area.

    The man, not identified by the department, was transported to a local hospital and then was life-lined to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition.

    Detectives with the department are actively investigating the case. The release said that anyone with information is asked to call the department’s detective division at (765) 747-4867 or Muncie Police Dispatch at (765) 747-4838.
