Marc A. Stanley, 40, was arrested last Monday and charged with battery with a deadly weapon – a level 5 felony – after Muncie police were called to an attack on the Cardinal Greenway.

Local 911 dispatch got a call around 8:45 p.m. from a woman who said she was just attacked with a knife while walking along the multi-use trail.

Upon arrival, officers found the woman and saw that she was bleeding from cuts on her arm, thigh, calf and neck.

The woman told police that she was walking along the path when she saw a man known only to her as “Marcus” quickly approaching. The woman said Marcus appeared angry and started yelling at her.

“Hey little b***h you had me jumped,” the man, later identified as Stanley, reportedly said.

The victim said that she pushed Stanley away from her as he tried to get closer.

The woman said Stanley then grabbed both of her arms and cut her on the neck with a pocket knife. He then reportedly slashed both of her legs before running away.

The woman told police that she did not want to get treatment at a hospital, but did identify the suspect – identified as Stanley – via pictures on social media. Stanley was later found, arrested and booked into Delaware County Jail.

Court records show Stanley has several more pending criminal cases in both Muncie City Court and Delaware County Court. Charges that Stanley faces in other cases include theft, battery, marijuana possession, failure to provide rabies shots and interfering with a police investigation.
