The Nashville Predators are making a change to their coaching staff, and it involves a former Colorado Avalanche forward.

According to Alex Daugherty of the Nashville Tennessean , the Predators are parting ways with assistant coach Dan Hinote. Daugherty also noted that the Predators confirmed to the Tennessean that Hinote won't return.

Hinote, 47, had an expired contract, and the Predators decided not to re-sign him. Now, the former Avalanche forward will be looking for work elsewhere.

Hinote became an assistant coach for the Predators before the start of the 2020-21 campaign. From there, he primarily focused on their penalty kill for four seasons.

Hinote has plenty of coaching experience. The former NHLer began his coaching career with the Columbus Blue Jackets as an assistant during the 2010-11 season. After four seasons as an assistant with the Blue Jackets, he became a scout for the club. He later spent time with the U.S. National Team Development Program.

Given Hinote's experience, he should be considered for other coaching gigs this offseason.

In 353 games with the Avalanche, Hinote had 27 goals, 65 points, and 254 penalty minutes.
