Upper Arlington holds annual Memorial Day run

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Members of the Upper Arlington community started their day with the 52nd annual Memorial Day race.

Runners got to start underneath an American flag displayed high in the air by a fire truck. The event featured a 5K and a one mile fun run for the kids.

The race is put on each year by the Upper Arlington Civic Association. President of the group Daniel Ayars said the event is not just fun, but a chance to remember what the holiday is about.

“It’s an opportunity to bring out some of our local veterans and celebrate them and what they’ve done for our country,” Ayars said.

More than 500 people showed up at the run.
