Canton High School graduate, a retired U.S. Army colonel, named deputy director of federal office
WASHINGTON − U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern recently named Brian Pearl, a native of Canton, Mo., as the agency’s deputy director. Pearl graduated from Canton R-V High School. He will serve in the agency’s second highest-ranking position as its chief operating officer. In addition to other responsibilities, Pearl will oversee GPO’s operations division, which includes plant operations, security and intelligent documents, official journals of government and customer services. These business units are responsible for GPO’s most important products including the U.S. passport, Congressional Record, Federal Register, White House print materials, secure federal credentials and other congressional and executive branch products and services.

Travis Lallemand named JUCO ABCA Coach of the Year
NEOSHO, Mo -- Crowder College Baseball head coach Travis Lallemand adds another award to his impressive resume. The American Baseball Coaches Association names Lallemand the Missouri NJCAA Regional Coach of the Year. This past season Lallemand led the Crowder Roughriders to a 49-15 record with a JUCO College World Series appearance.
Outlaws sweep Texarkana in a doubleheader
JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Joplin Outlaws wrap up a 7-game series against the Texarkana Rhinos. The series opener and finale included doubleheaders for the longest home stand of the season. Joplin wins game in a 6-0 shutout. The Outlaws come back in Game 2 to defeat Texarkana 4-3 on a walk-off bases loaded walk by Kahle Good. Joplin earns a day off of rest. The Outlaws return to Joe Becker Stadium this Tuesday vs Fort Smith.
