Somers Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday in Style
SOMERS, N.Y. - Mrs. Virginia Flood, a resident of Heritage Hills for 47 years, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, July 7, with family and friends at a brunch at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, CT. Also known as Gee Gee or Ginnie, Mrs. Flood (nee Bernene) was raised in Bedford. She was an administrative assistant to the president of Northern Westchester Hospital for 25 years and has also been a member of Twigs, served on the Board of the VNA of Hudson Valley, and was Secretary of the Heritage Hills Condo Board. Danbury's Musicals At Richter to Continue 40th Season Under The Stars With GREASE
Musicals at Richter, celebrating its 40th season as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut, puts the sizzle into summer nights with everyone's favorite high school-themed musical, "Grease," playing July 26 to August 10. Featuring a live band and a cast of talented local actors, performances take place outdoors under the stars at the Richter Arts Center, 100 Aunt Hack Road, in Danbury, adjacent to the Richter Park Public Golf Course, just off I-84, Exit 2.
Four houses proposed at site of former Spring Hill Road animal rescue
MONROE, CT — Neighbors of the SPCA of Connecticut Animal Shelter railed against the facility at 359 Spring Hill Road when it first opened in the early 2000s, but the dog kennels were a grandfathered use. The owner, Frederick Acker, fought with town officials over the number of dogs allowed on the property over the years and, due to financial woes, the shelter closed down for good last year.
