An urgent warning after a man with a history of stalking was seen harassing a number of underage girls in Central New York. Kayleigh Burgess, the assistant manager from the Planet Fitness in Rome said a guy was harassing her and numerous other girls at the gym. "He told me I caught his attention because of my birth year on my necklace which makes me 26 years younger than him."
Sunday stabbing in Herkimer sends one to hospital
HERKIMER, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A stabbing early Sunday morning in Herkimer has sent one person to the hospital and one to jail, according to Herkimer Police. Herkimer Police officers were assigned to the report of the stabbing on a trail at the end of Kings Road in the village at approximately 12:15 am on Sunday, July 21. Dispatchers advised officers that the victim would be yelling as he was a distance down the trail. While searching the area on foot, officers located the victim, who had suffered a stab wound to his lower back.

Ilion's Duofold building suffers partial collapse
ILION — Public safety officials from Ilion were dispatched to the vacant Duofold complex at 7 Spruce St. last week for a possible building collapse. After the arrival of officials from Ilion’s fire and police departments, as well as the mayor’s office, at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, it was determined that a partial collapse of the west-end structure of the complex had occurred. The structure, officials say, had collapsed and pulled away from the connected building, leaving the far west portion of the building still standing. Officials also noted that a debris field was spread across the entire south side of the building, with the largest pile of debris remaining in the vicinity of the collapse.

Capsized Canoe Sends a Pair and Pet into Mohawk
On June 2, 2024, several reports of a capsized canoe with occupants in the water were received at Unified Communications Center sending a large contingent of fireboats to the scene on the Mohawk River just west of the Kiwanis Park boat launch. The Beukendaal fireboat made it to the scene first, picking up a male and female and their German shepherd puppy and bringing them to safety. The occupants did not sustain any injuries. Fireboats from Rotterdam Junction and Schonowee fire departments responded but were not needed.
