The Creamery: 37-story building to break ground along Glenwood South
A new 37-story building planned for Glenwood South will have more floors than any building in downtown Raleigh, even more than the PNC building, which is 32 stories tall. The new building, called The Creamery, will be located at the site of the old Pine State Creamery, a former dairy products factory at 414 Glenwood Ave. The plans preserve the creamery building and its history, but the high-rise will dramatically change the feel of the neighborhood.

Food Lion unveils new grocery store in Garner, North Carolina
Food Lion has nourished the Garner, N.C., community for nearly 50 years, and on July 24 it will open its new location at 55 Ford Meadows Drive. The store will open to the public on July 24 following a 7:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. Afterward, the first 100 customers in line will receive a mystery gift card valued up to $200 and a free reusable shopping bag. The store will be open daily from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.
Durham's Merge Records celebrates 35 years of independent music
This week, Durham’s Merge Records is celebrating its 35th anniversary with four nights of shows at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro. The label was founded in 1989 by Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance of the band Superchunk. They launched Merge as a do-it-yourself outlet for the band to release its own records, as well as records by other bands they had befriended at home and on tour. While they still release music from North Carolina bands, it has gone on to become one of the best-known indie labels in the world.

Raleigh Union Station will add its first restaurant with Union Station Deli & Catering
Raleigh's downtown train station will add its first restaurant later this summer. What to expect: Union Station Deli & Catering, which is being billed as a New York-style deli, will open in Raleigh Union Station on Aug. 15, according to its owner, Raleigh-based Rocky Top Catering. The menu will include bagels and sandwiches — with toppings like a house-smoked pastrami, corned beef and chicken cutlets — as well as black-and-white cookies. Union Station Deli will initially open Monday through Friday from 6am- 3pm. It expects to add weekend house starting in January. Nipro Medical Corp. to build $398M North Carolina plant
Medical device maker Nipro Medical Corp. is building a $397.8 million facility in Greenville, North Carolina, Gov. Roy Cooper stated in a July 17 press release. The 550,000-square-foot plant will create 232 jobs and produce dialyzers and precision needles for the healthcare industry that support people with diabetes, chronic kidney disease and other renal health issues, according to Nipro.

The 2023 season was, I think we can all agree, pretty frustrating from the whole pass-throwing and pass-catching perspective. We had hoped that the team’s veteran group of receivers would produce a breakout, or at least more reliable targets, but none emerged. Arrests Made In Dollar General Robbery
JOHNSTON COUNTY – Detectives with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two suspects in the armed robbery of Dollar General, at 10525 Cleveland Road, Garner. James Marcus Almond, age 50, of Gardner Road, Four Oaks and a 16 year-old juvenile are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, and two counts of second degree kidnapping.
