KENT—Local author Jason Calabrese will speak about his book, “Boost your Basketball I.Q.,” Thursday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Kent Memorial Library, 32 North Main St. He will not only discuss his book writing journey, but also give tips for aspiring authors, tips for basketball players, tips and ideas for coaching youth basketball and applying skills learned on that court to the real world.

BRISTOL, Conn. -- Cornell baseball's rising senior Jakobi Davis has spent his summer in Danbury, Conn., playing ball with the Danbury Westerners. Last week, the outfielder was called up to the NECBL Home Run Derby to compete against 13 other players from across the league to be crowned champion. Davis hammered 12 balls over the fence over two rounds, claiming the 2024 NECBL Home Run Derby champion title. The derby was conducted in a two-round format. DANBURY, Conn. – Western Connecticut State University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Guy Rancourt has announced the hiring of Brendan MacKinnon to the position of assistant coach, replacing Steven Rudd who served in the same position in 2023-24.
