NFL analyst dubs outstanding college WR best fit for Saints in 2025

One of the biggest questions for the New Orleans Saints moving forward is what they’re going to do at the quarterback position. Derek Carr has been a solid quarterback, but his stint with the Saints hasn’t yielded the results fans or Carr would have hoped. After this season, Carr will have two years remaining on his deal, and the Saints will have a real decision on their hands as to what to do with the future of the position.

If the choice is to stick with Carr, they’re going to have to maximize the talent around him. That’s exactly what Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski has them doing in the 2025 NFL Draft with his “way too early” team fits piece . Sobleski took a look around the league and found one college prospect that he deemed the best fit for each team. For the Saints, he pairs them up with Arizona wide receiver Tatairoa McMillan.

Sobleski believes that McMillan could come in and give the Saints shades of Marques Colston, arguably the team’s all-time best receiver, and would provide the perfect complement to young wide receiver Chris Olave. The 1-2 punch of Olave and McMillan would provide Carr with the arguably the best receiver corps he’s had during his NFL career, and it would set up whoever succeeds Carr with the tools they need to come in and have a chance at early production.

Add to that duo the speedster Rashid Shaheed – provided the Saints can secure his services long-term – and you have the makings of an offense that can give opposing defensive coordinators nightmares. The 2025 NFL Draft has several quarterback prospects that might entice the Saints into moving on from Carr – such as Sobleski’s “other fit” for the Saints, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders – but the way the draft shakes out in this too early look makes McMillan the obvious choice.
