Recycling pickup could end in New Phila
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (July 1, 2024) – The city could discontinue curbside recycling because of increasing costs and low participation. That’s one of the options council’s Public Works and Economic Development Committee is considering to help shore up a budget shortfall within the citywide refuse collection program. Chairman Dan Lanzer made the suggestion last Monday, citing data from the Kimble Company showing that only about a quarter of the city’s households haul recyclables to the curb with their trash each week.

Dennison getting over $400k to stabilize road after slip
DENNISON (WJER) (July 1, 2024) – Village leaders are making plans to stabilize the part of Stillwater Avenue where heavy rainfall caused the ground to slip toward the creek. During the June 19th council meeting, members approved the engineering agreement and a contract for geotechnical exploration services. MINERVA CONCERT – New Song, Geneva College’s music and drama ministry group, will offer a free performance at 7 p.m. July 5 on Minerva’s Municipal Park Stage. Nine students are chosen in January for the group that begins their service in the summer following. Students are chosen because of their musical and dramatic abilities and because of the way they can articulate and convey their faith. New Song is directed by Lindsay Shaffer, Minerva High School and Geneva College alumna. Municipal Park’s parking is adjacent to the Minerva High School parking lot.
