Edison Township Announces Line Up for House Music Festival
EDISON, NJ - The township has announced the upcoming house music festival. The festival is scheduled for Saturday, August 24th, at Papaianni Park from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Cranford Police Department's Youth Academy Was a Rousing Success
CRANFORD, NJ – Last week, Cranford Police Department hosted their annual Youth Academy which provides middle-school participants with hands-on exposure to various aspects of law enforcement. The Youth Academy offered 40 local Cranford cadets the unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and gain valuable life skills along the way. “Our goal is to give these kids a real sense of what it means to be a police officer,” said Detective Ali Muhammad, organizer of this year’s academy. The program aims to foster positive relationships between police officers and young Cranford community residents while educating them about the realities of police work.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER To that end, cadets engaged in a variety of activities throughout the week, including physical fitness training; crime scene investigation; motor vehicle stop procedures; K-9 unit demonstrations; emergency vehicle operations; SWAT and Bomb Squad; breaching procedures; and taser training. Highlights of the week included the New Jersey State Police’s helicopter presentation and a visit from the U.S. Secret Service. The program also covered important topics such as drug awareness, internet safety, and bullying prevention given by CPD’s Juvenile Detectives and Investigation Bureau. Heningburg brothers enjoying great lacrosse year
MAPLEWOOD/SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Maplewood natives Jules Heningburg and his brother, Dylan Heningburg, are enjoying great years in lacrosse. Jules, a 2014 Seton Hall Prep graduate, currently is playing professionally in the Premier Lacrosse League as a member of the Carolina Chaos. Jules, an attackman, has scored eight goals and added seven assists in five games played through June 29.

5 dogs abandoned in NJ home, in nailed-shut closets with cig burns
IRVINGTON — Five neglected pit bulls were rescued from an abandoned home in the Essex County Township, according to a report by News 12. The Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption in Cranford was first alerted to two dogs left outside the property on July 3. Police: Elizabeth woman arrested in Guttenberg for kicking police officer
An Elizabeth woman was arrested in Guttenberg for kicking a police officer after authorities responded to a call of her being an unwanted guest in a home. On Sunday, July 14th, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 68th Street and Madison Street on a report of an unwanted party in a residence, the department wrote in their police blotter.
