Peter O’Connor has simplified his view of life. “We’re each other’s brothers and sisters,” said O’Connor, 82. “We should stop the fighting and start helping each other. If you’re going to do that, it starts with decent housing, that leads to decent education. If you don’t have those two elements it’s hard to move to the next level.”

5 dogs abandoned in NJ home, in nailed-shut closets with cig burns
IRVINGTON — Five neglected pit bulls were rescued from an abandoned home in the Essex County Township, according to a report by News 12. The Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption in Cranford was first alerted to two dogs left outside the property on July 3. CHATHAM, NJ -- Chatham's enrollment is holding steady at 3,525 students heading into the upcoming 2024-2025 school year as reported by Mary Donohue, assistant superintendent, at the July 15 regular meeting of the Chatham Board of Education. Police: Elizabeth woman arrested in Guttenberg for kicking police officer
An Elizabeth woman was arrested in Guttenberg for kicking a police officer after authorities responded to a call of her being an unwanted guest in a home. On Sunday, July 14th, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 68th Street and Madison Street on a report of an unwanted party in a residence, the department wrote in their police blotter.

Gregory Balzano Takes Oath to Join West Caldwell Police Department
WEST CALDWELL, NJ -- On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Patrolman Gregory Balzano was sworn in at the West Caldwell Mayor and Council meeting as the newest member of the West Caldwell Police Department. Balzano graduated from West Essex Regional High School, where he played soccer and wrestled.
