    Girl, 3, struck and killed by car in Harlem; 2-year-old also injured: NYPD

    HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – A 3-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car in Harlem on Thursday, according to the NYPD.

    A 2-year-old boy and a woman were also injured in the crash, per police. The two children and the woman, along with a 4-month-old baby boy, tried to cross an intersection near 135th Street and Lenox Avenue around 7:40 p.m. when they were hit by a blue Nissan Pathfinder, according to authorities.

    The 40-year-old driver brought the 3-year-old girl, identified as Jaynelyse Valdez, to Harlem Hospital, which is near where the crash happened, per police. That’s where she was pronounced dead from traumatic head injuries.

    The infant was not injured, per police.

    The driver returned to the scene after bringing the 3-year-old girl to the hospital to answer questions from police, according to authorities.

    The crash is under investigation.
