There may not be hockey being played at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, but there is a correlation with the New York Rangers.

Emma Wright, the niece of former Rangers defenseman Jeff Beukeboom, is set to compete for Team Canada’s water polo team at the Olympics.

"As a team, we have been working very hard moving towards the Olympic Games," Wright said. "We have made lots of strides as a team and are hoping to be able to show that at the Games. We are getting more and more excited as the days count down!''

Wright has also been named the captain of the team as she comes into Paris with a ton of impressive accolades.

She’s competed for Canada in five straight World Championships while taking home three straight silver medals at the Pan American Games.

The 27-year-old also made history through her tenure at The University of California. She is one of six four-time ACWPC All-Americans in Cal's program history and owns the schools’ third-highest career goals total, scoring 208 from 2017-22.

Beukeboom played eight seasons for the Rangers from 1991-1999 and he won a Stanley Cup with New York in 1994.

Through his tenure with the Rangers, Beukeboom recorded 18 goals, 72 assists and 90 points in 520 games.
