Yesterday, the Team USA men’s basketball team won their fifth Olympic gold medal in a row. Today, it’s the women’s turn. Can they make it a historic eighth gold medal in a row?
These Paris Olympics are the first time in the history of the games that both basketball finals are being played by the same countries. That’s right — to take home the gold, Team USA will first have to get past host country France.
The gold medal game is actually a rematch of the 2012 Olympics’ gold medal game, where Team USA emerged victorious. During the 2020 Olympics, France fell just short of the final, winning the bronze medal.
