Graphic footage from the incident showed the 18-year-old suspect looking into the camera while wearing a skeletal face mask, goggles and a Nazi-style helmet before walking into the patio of the Tepebaşı Mosque in Eskişehir with a knife drawn on Monday.
There he seemed to survey a group of men lounging about and talking before selecting one and driving the blade into his torso.

The suspect then leered at several shocked bystanders before pursuing another and slashing his blade at others.
Throughout the clip — which lasted more than two minutes before the suspect was apparently tackled to the ground — he didn’t say a word and was only heard breathing heavily as he ran through a park, a train station and the streets, seemingly slashing and stabbing victims at random.
Photos from the aftermath showed bloodied victims and the suspect cuffed on his back as police officers stood over him.
He also appeared to be wearing a bulletproof vest adorned with the Nazi SS black sun symbol, which has been co-opted by far-right white supremacy and racist groups.
He also had an ax in his waistband but did not appear to have used it in the attack.

Some local outlets reported the suspect was dressed up as a character from a video game that inspired the attack but his motivation remains under investigation.
None of the victims’ injuries were life-threatening, but some were still serious and required hospitalization, according to Eskişehir Durum .
