An Iowa man has been accused of shooting his father in the face in an argument about his “stinky feet,” police said.
David Carpenter, 48, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and child endangerment on Sunday after calling the cops and admitting he shot his father while his child was in the room, KCRG reported

Carpenter’s father, William Carpenter, told police that an intense argument unfolded after he told his son his “feet stink.”
As the fight escalated, David Carpenter said he made a comment about shooting his father — and went into his bedroom to retrieve a firearm, according to a criminal complaint.
He then walked back into the living room where his father was sitting in a motorized scooter and continued to yell at his father about guns, according to KCRG.
David Carpenter told police that he pulled the firearm out from behind his back, pointed it at his father’s face, and accidentally pulled the trigger, according to the report.
Two children under the age of 14 were in the home at the time of the shooting, officers said.
Detectives said David Carpenter confirmed to them that his son was in the living room watching television when the shooting unfolded, according to the paper.
