A 26-year-old man died Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 221, Oregon State Police said Monday.

A preliminary investigation of the 9:53 p.m. crash found Zakary Ross Nasby of Newberg was northbound on Wallace Road NW in a Ford Ranger pickup truck when he drove onto the shoulder before overcorrecting back across the roadway, leaving the roadway and colliding with a tree, OSP said in a news release.

Nasby, who did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, north of the intersection with Bellevue Hopewell Highway 153.

The highway was impacted for about 3.5 hours while officers investigated the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
