    FHP: Newberry woman hit, killed after exiting SUV in middle of State Road 26

    A Newberry woman was hit and killed by a vehicle on State Road 26 on Monday night after exiting her SUV, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

    Monday at about 10:05 p.m.

    On State Road 26 near its intersection with Northwest 155th Street.

    The FHP report

    According to the report, for unknown reasons, an SUV headed west on State Road 26 in the Jonesville area came to a stop in the roadway. The driver, a 42-year-old Newberry woman, then exited the vehicle and was struck by a sedan being driven by a 34-year-old Newberry woman. The 42-year-old woman died. The 34-year-old woman suffered minor injuries, the report said.
