LCDC welcomes new campaign manager, opens campaign office
The Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) has tapped Stephen Wicks, Ph.D. to be the campaign manager for the 2024 election season. Wicks, a lifelong progressive, will work out of LCDC’s new campaign office at 27 River Road, Newcastle. More than 60 people attended a recent open house at the headquarters, where Wicks was officially announced as the campaign manager.

As Wiscasset selectmen and other residents June 25 worked to understand Johnson Controls’ proposed energy project, State Rep. Edward Polewarczyk, R – Wiscasset, determined, as proposed, the project’s costs and the guaranteed energy savings over the 20-year debt are a “wash.” Any energy savings beyond that are unknown, Selectmen’s Chair Sarah Whitfield said. Whitfield and Polewarczyk asked the most questions in the public hearing at Wiscasset Community Center’s Senior Center.

Edgecomb resident seeks McKay Road repairs
Washouts along McKay Road in Edgecomb are getting worse, and a resident is seeking relief from the town. On June 25, Maggie Hunter met with selectmen to discuss problems with the road’s ditching and culvert. Hunter sent selectmen three pictures of the most recent washout prior to speaking at the meeting. “The road is gradually getting worse after each storm,” she said. “I worried about a serious accident as water is running along the shoulder and not in the ditch. The shoulder needs to be filled in.”
