Fairport boys tennis claims Class A1 sectional title

BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WROC) — The Fairport boys tennis team took down Hilton 4-3 to win the Class A1 sectional title. It took two days to crown a winner as the rain on Friday delayed some of the matches to Saturday morning.

Fairport won all three singles matchups. AJ Balsamo won the top singles match 6-4, 6-1. Balsamo also won the individual Class A1 sectional title earlier this month.

It’s the 10th sectional title for the Red Raiders in program history and their first since 2021.

Fairport will square off against the Class A2 champ, Sutherland in the Class A crossover game later this week.

Hilton reached the team sectional title game for the first time in program history.
