ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Some 41 talented theatre kids from across the region left it all on the stage Thursday, as they competed for a chance to represent Rochester in a national competition next month on Broadway.

This is the 14th year Rochester Broadway Theatre League has hosted the Stars of Tomorrow program. News 8 is a proud sponsor and Theresa Marsenburg was there to welcome the participants and watch the high schoolers perform in front of the panel of judges, their families, teachers and classmates.

This year’s class of stars sung excerpts from classics such as Funny Girl, Sister Act, Footloose, The Little Mermaid, and Chicago.

The winners were Ian Royse from Greece Arcadia and Katiclaire Dobbins from Bishop Kearney.

Aubrey Puccio from Leroy Junior-Senior High School won the fan favorite poll this year, along with four VIP tickets to a production of Les Mis this fall at the West Herr Auditorium.

Congratulations to all of the evening’s stars.
