ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC ) — A new café and coffee option is coming to Rochester: Montgomery Court!

The new joint is tucked away at Colby & Park Ave. — the official address is 1241 Park Avenue —
and nestled in the ABC Streets Neighborhood.

“(This) neighborhood definitely has a need for a community center, a place where people can gather and pickup some coffee, breakfast, lunch,” said owner Colin Floom.

Floom is from L.A., and when he moved to Colorado, he opened several coffee shops there.

“I fell in love with the coffee shop atmosphere, it was a great way to connect with people,” he said.

At Montgomery Court, which is named for an old haunt of his wife’s, Floom will be slinging gourmet coffee and espresso, roasted by his other company, Language of Coffee.

Denver-inspired food items are on the menu as well.

“I’m a big breakfast burrito fan, in Denver we had hatch green chili, we put in anything breakfast-related,” he said.

Montgomery Court is a warm and cozy spot with plentiful green colors and plants. There’s limited indoor seating, but Floom expects to add more once the property is rezoned in the winter.

Floom is making his small business debut, moving from the film business to the coffee business. He helped to film the 2020 Ford Bronco commercial and a new movie of his with Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson, “Unholy Trinity,” is coming out soon.

But now he’s getting back involved with the community: Floom is celebrating a double grand opening Labor Day, with Montgomery Court and the business next door, Ducktail Barbershop.

The sweet, old-school joint has been open for 70 years, but just moved into this new location.

Floom is looking foward to giving back.

“I got tired of all the traveling,” Floom said. “And I’m looking forward to being a part of Rochester.”

The grand opening on Labor Day runs from noon “until,” and also features food trucks and MoBar Rochester, a new mobile bar.

After the grand opening, Montgomery Court will be open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
