    Jailed man dies in cell, MCSO investigates

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man in jail died Saturday morning.

    According to the sheriff’s office, jail deputies found the 35-year-old man unconscious in a cell around 8 a.m. Despite efforts to save his life, he was eventually pronounced dead.

    A cause of death has yet to be released, as the Medical Examiner’s Office still has to conduct an autopsy. The man’s identity was not immediately released, pending family notification.

    The man was sentenced to serve weekends in jail. According to deputies, he was screened by a medical provider before his arrival for the weekend of Aug. 30, as is protocol.
