ENDICOTT, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – The back-to-school rush is upon us, and for teachers and students, that means getting all of your classroom supplies before it’s too late.

Senator Lea Webb launched the 2nd year of her Back-to-School Supply Drive for local teachers.

Across Broome, Cortland and Tompkins Counties, there will be 10 collection bins for people to donate new or unused school supplies.

Acceptable items are things like notebooks, pens, erasers, tissues, sticky notes and loose-leaf paper.

The supply drive will run through September 6th.

Webb launched the initiative today at the Southern Tier Community Center and says teachers shouldn’t be paying out of their pockets to get students what they need.

“This is our way, through my office, that we’re trying to, not only support students and their families, but also our teachers, as they gear up for the upcoming school year. So that they can ensure that our students can also be successful,” says Webb.

In Broome County, the donation bins are located at the Southern Tier Community Center, the Vestal Public Library, and Webb’s district offices on Hawley Street in Binghamton.

In Cortland, bins are located at the Homer Center for the Arts, the Cortland Chamber of Commerce, and Peck Memorial Library.

The bins will be available during regular business hours.
