TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – SUNY Broome was teeming with life today, as thousands of students are back on campus for the start of the new semester.

Today was the first day of classes for students and staff at SUNY Broome Community College.

Across campus, there were information tables for students to ask any questions, look at a campus map, pick up a snack, and even get some new Hornet merchandise.

Broome’s president, Tony Hawkins, says that enrollment is up for returning students this year, and there’s never been more students living in the residential village.

“Last year as the transition year from one presidential leadership to another, and this year, we have a strategic plan, we’ve got goals, and activities and strategies to really transform SUNY Broome to a modern community college. So, there’s lots of newness that we’re going to unfold, there’s lots of excitement,” says Hawkins.

Hawkins says students are still registering for their classes.

So, if you’re looking to continue your education, you can call the school and schedule a meeting with an advisor.
