NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - In the fiscal year 2023, Amtrak operated over 80 trains daily across New Jersey, catering to a vast number of passengers along several key routes.

According to Amtrak, the state plays a crucial role in the Northeast Corridor, with trains connecting major cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., as well as extending to distant destinations like Chicago, Miami, and New Orleans.

According to Amtrak, Newark Penn Station emerged as the busiest Amtrak station in New Jersey, with 671,703 riders passing through its doors.

Other significant hubs included Metropark with 292,516 passengers and Trenton with 342,937 riders. In contrast, New Brunswick saw the least traffic among Amtrak stations in the state, recording only 28,587 riders for the year.

Despite New Brunswick’s relatively low usage, it remains an important stop on the Northeast Corridor, providing vital rail service to the region’s residents and contributing to New Jersey’s overall ridership of 1,576,582 passengers in 2023, according to Amtrak.

Amtrak’s extensive service in New Jersey, supported by the cooperation of host railroads, continues to be a critical component of the state’s transportation infrastructure, ensuring connectivity across the Northeast and beyond.
