On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, The Honorable Julie Bauknight of the 267th Judicial District Court sentenced Dondre Carter to 40 years in prison. Carter, 35, has served time in the De Witt County Jail for other charges including failure to maintain financial responsibility, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, engaging in organized criminal activity and for violation of probation in 2022 for the aggravated assault charge. Jail records also show he served prison time in 2011.

De Witt County Assistant District Attorney Ben Gray made a Motion to Adjudicate Guilt and Revoke Probation before Judge Bauknight. While on probation, Carter was alleged to have committed a new offense of Aggravated Robbery, while serving a probation sentence for an incident in May 2021.

Carter still faces trial for the Robbery offense, should the case go to trial.

Dondre Carter, 35, received 40 years for probation violation.
