Country music legend George Strait and his Ace in the Hole Band are mourning the loss of their former drummer and longtime road manager, Tom Foote. The heartbreaking news was shared on social media, where the iconic musician expressed his deep sorrow over Foote's sudden passing.

Foote had been with the band for an impressive 48 years, and his absence is deeply felt as the band gears up for their upcoming stadium tour starting on May 4 in Indianapolis. Strait noted that Foote was doing what he loved to do, which was taking care of the band during their last rehearsal session together.

In a post on his Instagram, Strait shared, "We lost another one of our good friends and a huge part of our musical journey yesterday. Tom Foote, our one-time drummer and long-time road manager for around 48 years, suddenly passed away at his home after our rehearsal. The band and I were with him most of the afternoon and he was great. Just doing what he loved to do which was making sure we were taken care of. 2024 is taking its toll on the Ace in the Hole group. We’re all heartbroken to say the least. Rest in peace brother Tom. You will be hugely missed. I’ll see you down the road amigo. -gs"

Foote's musical journey with the Ace in the Hole Band began in the mid-'70s when he was the drummer for a group called Stoney Ridge out of San Marcos, Texas. His partnership with Strait began during this time when the band welcomed the country music icon as their new singer. Foote later transitioned into the role of road manager, which he held until his passing.

This loss comes after the passing of two other cherished members of the band's musical family. In March, Strait announced the death of his longtime manager, Erv Woolsey, and the following day, the band's fiddle player, Gene Elders, passed away.

The cause of Foote's passing and funeral arrangements remain private. However, his legacy as an integral part of George Strait's iconic sound will undoubtedly endure, resonating with fans of all ages and fellow musicians.
