With the generous support of several donors, CASA of South Central Missouri—Texas County has successfully launched an initiative to provide essential supplies for the children it serves.

Through this initiative, 30 “Busy Bags” have been created for CASA advocates in Texas County to use with the children under their care.

Donors include West Plains Bank and Trust Company – Houston Branch, Big Creek Church, Walmart of Houston, Summersville Methodist Fellowship and the Community Betterment and Arts Council of Houston.

CASA volunteers play a crucial role in advocating for abused and neglected children within the foster care system. The Busy Bags, equipped with toys and games tailored to each child’s age and preferences, aim to create engaging and supportive interactions during visits.

Some of the items purchased with the donations include whiteboards and expo markers, books, coloring books, fidget toys, footballs and finger puppets. These toys and games serve as essential tools to break the ice and foster a caring and fun atmosphere. The items in the Busy Bags remain with the CASA, ensuring that each child can anticipate their next visit with excitement.

Those interested in becoming a CASA volunteer or contributing to the Busy Bag fund should contact Kayy Duncan, Texas County Advocate Supervisor, at 417-254-0523 or email kayy.duncan@casascmo.org .
