The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department :

    • On April 18, a deputy responded to a report of an animal attack at a Berry Road residence at Cabool.

The officer made contact with a 72-year-old woman there who said she had come home two evenings earlier and found five dead cats in her yard. The woman told the officer some neighbors had told her they saw another neighbor man’s dogs in the yard on the evening the dead cats were found.

The woman said she called the neighbor and he confirmed the dogs were in her yard and that her son could get them put back up. She said this was the second time the man’s dogs had killed her cats.

The officer spoke with the neighbor man and he said he wasn’t certain his dogs had killed the woman’s cats, but admitted they had on a previous occasion.

    • A 21-year-old Houston woman came to the TCSD office on March 4 to report that her former boyfriend had raped her and she was pregnant as a result.

The woman told an officer that on Dec. 8, 2023, she was drunk at her Morton Road residence and the man, 23, had come there and raped her.

    Investigation is ongoing.

    • On May 16, a deputy investigated a reported burglary at a Highway 32 residence near Licking.

A 71-year-old woman and 70-year-old man there told the officer they had recently entered the house after her mother had died, and they came there and found a basement widow broken and several drawers and cabinets open. They said jewelry, some with a value of $200, and a box of paperwork had been stolen.

    There are no suspects.
