Goochland County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Families and community members in Henrico County are in mourning following the untimely deaths of two area teenagers in a car crash over the weekend.

State police say they responded to the 1200 block of Hockett Road at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 for a report of a single-vehicle crash. Once on the scene, it was determined that 18-year-old Kyle Alexander Haden of Henrico was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree sideways, splitting the car in two.

Haden was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Two 16-year-old males from Henrico who were riding in the car were killed on impact. Both were 10th graders at J.R. Tucker High School.

In a message sent to the families of J.R. Tucker students, principal Art Raymond confirmed that the two teens who were killed were students.

“I am writing to let you know about the untimely loss of two of our students, tenth-graders Aiden Schmidt and Joseph Castro,” Raymond said. “The young men were killed in a car accident over the weekend.”

Grief counselors will be at the school all week to offer student support.

This crash is still under investigation by state police.
