Your Wine Now Flies for Free Out of Sonoma

If you fly a lot like me, odds are you've learned the merits of carrying-on only. Now bring in the fact that my travels are almost entirely for wine, the crisis of conscience often comes up: is this wine worth checking a bag for ? In the post 9/11 world bottles of wine and basically all liquids over 3oz are forbidden in the cabin of commercial airliners, unless you are traveling domestically in Australia. So imagine my excitement when I heard about a second US Airline that is now offering one free checked case of wine ! I have used Avelo Airlines a few times traveling their route from Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS), and I could not be more excited to know we no longer have to decide between our precious wine-country hauls and carrying our luggage on!
Avelo Airlines , known for its budget-friendly fares and convenient routes, brings you closer to Sonoma County’s wine country without breaking the bank. Beginning this weekend and timed to National Wine Day —Avelo has rolled out the "Wine Travels Free" program—allowing every traveler to enjoy the added benefit of checking a case of wine for free. As part of their checked baggage allowance, customers who are 21 years of age or older departing from STS can transport one case of wine per person at no additional cost. Following in the successful footsteps of Alaska Airlines' "Wine Flies Free" program where Mileage Plan members are able to check a case of wine for free on their return flight from STS, Avelo now allows you to bring the best of wine country home with you without the usual headache.
This opens up your ability to further explore Sonoma County, renowned for its picturesque vineyards and award-winning wineries. Whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or just starting out in your wine journey, you now have the freedom to explore, taste, and transport your favorite wines back home with ease. Travel light, travel affordably. Never leave the wine behind again!
